Within Inverclyde Mental Health Services and Alcohol and Drug Recovery Services are evolving and developing in order to meet present and future population health needs.  As part of these innovative developments a team of Mental Health Advanced Nurse Practitioners is being established.  This team will support the medical roster and provide on call cover to inpatient services over a 24hr period.  It will be involved in leading and developing mental health nursing practice across both inpatient and community settings. The Mental Health Lead ANP will also have a role in overseeing and supporting the development of ANP roles within Alcohol and Drug Recovery Services.

The Mental Health Lead Advanced Nurse Practitioner must have an expert knowledge base and high level of clinical competence along with strong leadership capabilities. The role requires an ability to manage competing demands and work under pressure.  The Mental Health Lead ANP will be responsible for ensuring safe and effective care is delivered by the ANP team at all times.  With the support of professional nurse leads and nurse consultants the Mental Health Lead ANP will be instrumental in establishing and ensuring the success of the team.
