Annex 21 Student Maternity Care Assistant ​​​​​​​

NHS FIFE INTERNAL CANDIDATES ONLY

We are delighted to open student Maternity Care Assistant (MCA) applications from NHS Fife employees who would be interested in a career development within NHS Fife, Women and Children’s Directorate.
This is a unique opportunity where individuals can undertake this course which will be delivered by a 3 week’s of theory blocks that will be utilised to prepare you for placement and for academic study.
Clinical placements will be arranged in all maternity areas including community and antenatal clinics. 
Successful applicants will require agreement from their line manager, to be seconded from their current post, on existing hours and banding until the course is completed. Whilst waiting for the Exam Board, you will be remunerated a Band 2 salary.
On successful completion of the course employment in a band 4 role with NHS Fife is guaranteed.
  The course consists of 3 online weeks with some travel to the UWS in addition to the following clinical placements:
• Practice Learning 1(6 weeks): September –December Dependent Level
• Practice Learning 2 (6 weeks): January - March Supervised Level
• Practice Learning 3(8 weeks): April - June Supported Level
You must be enthusiastic and committed to the completion of the course.
