A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and enthusiastic registered nurse to join the Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition team within the Royal Hospital for Children (RHC), Glasgow. We are looking for someone to fill the Complex Nutrition Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) post. This is a full time post working 37.5hrs per week.
The paediatric Complex Nutrition CNS is a core member of the Nutrition Support Team within the Paediatric Gastroenterology department in RHC. Your remit will include all children/young people under Gastroenterology consult within RHC and the West of Scotland Network who require complex nutritional support. You will be responsible for providing specialist and advanced expertise around the management of complex nutritional therapies in children and young people. As part of the multi-disciplinary team, (MDT) you will lead in the nursing management of patients on parenteral nutrition (PN) therapy with a specific remit in training and managing families on home PN.
You will be a registered Paediatric Nurse, with a minimum of 3 years’ experience at Band 6 level. You will be competent in all aspects of Central Venous Access Device (CVAD) Care including accessing devices, troubleshooting, and blood sampling as well as having knowledge of current care pathways and national standards. As well as having excellent organisational skills, you will also be able to facilitate complex discussions with patients, their families and the MDT. Evidence of further study including non-medical prescribing and/or a leadership qualification would be also desirable.
You will be a self-starter and autonomous practitioner who is keen to grow into this exciting and exciting role.
