NHS Golden Jubilee (NHSGJ) is seeking to appoint a highly motivated, enthusiastic Clinical Director for Ophthalmology who will drive forward change, promote high professional standards and lead on innovation. NHSGJ provides Cataract surgery as a National Elective centre for Scotland and our new facility has been designed to deliver high volume cataract surgery effectively and efficiently.
Our Ophthalmology service continues to expand and is now one of Scotland’s largest ophthalmic units. NHSGJ is in the process of delivering an ambitious plan of growth, with significant investment in the expansion of elective services to support NHS Scotland and meet the predicted demand between now and 2035. Our new purpose built Eye Centre opened in 2020. This facility has been designed to enable accessible person-centred care within an attractive and supportive environment. There are 6 operating theatres with twin- theatre design, and integrated outpatient and diagnostic facilities.
We have a dedicated team of specialist ophthalmology nurses, optometrists, 5.2 WTE consultant ophthalmologists and a small group of visiting consultants. We also have a small number of trainees, who rotate from the WOS and there are opportunities for the successful candidates to contribute to training programs, quality improvement and service design.
We are able to offer a very flexible job plans and there is no regular on-call commitment.
Applicants must be registered with the General Medical Council, be listed on the Specialist Register (or be within 6 months of entry) and hold a FRCOphth or equivalent higher Surgical qualification, if from out with the UK.
