An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly experienced Occupational Therapist to join the Occupational Therapy Team in East Ayrshire; to support the continued development and delivery of a comprehensive service to the population within Her Majesty’s Prison Kilmarnock.
Based within HMP Kilmarnock the Occupational Therapist will be part of the Prison Health Care team working in partnership with Serco and the Scottish Prison Service (SPS). The postholder will work alongside colleagues, including other AHPs.
Successful applicant will:
• Continue to build on the design and deliver an evidence-based occupational therapy service to enable the rehabilitation of prisoners.
• Assess and treat the specific occupational needs of prisoners who present with complex health and social needs.
• Enable prisoners to develop the essential skills to participate in and effectively perform their daily occupations, supporting health, desistence and preparing for the transition from prison to community living.
• Adopt a holistic approach with offenders and their families in order to support them to develop resilience and to minimise the impact of adversity.
• Monitor, evaluate and report on this service to the Occupational Therapy Service Manager, the AHP Lead, the Mental Health Directorate and Prison Management.
Support and supervision is available from Occupational Service Manager and Service Lead Occupational Therapist as part of the Occupational Therapy Service supervision and Personal Development structure.
Due to the nature of this role, a car driver with access to a vehicle is essential.
Hours: 37.5 per week, however variations may be considered.
