Senior Educator (Endoscopy) National Assistant Practitioner Programme (Endoscopy) Programme
Hours: 18.75 hours per week (0.5 wte)
Duration: Fixed Term/Secondment: 24 months*

About the NHS Scotland Academy
The NHS Scotland Academy is an exciting partnership between NHS Golden Jubilee and NHS Education for Scotland to offer accelerated training for a wide range of health and social care roles and professions. The NHS Scotland Academy will provide an opportunity for staff to improve their skills in specific areas, using residential, distance and virtual reality learning. It will offer attractive training programmes linked to recruitment and career progression.
The NHS Scotland Academy draws on the strengths of both parent organisations. It will use both the state-of-the-art clinical and simulation facilities at NHS Golden Jubilee and the educational expertise and technology-enabled learning offered by NHS Education for Scotland
The NHS Scotland Academy will support NHS Scotland to develop additional capacity and new capabilities. It will add to existing educational programmes and respond to evolving and emerging workforce needs. By addressing recruitment gaps and training needs, it will help ensure the health and social care workforce is prepared for future needs in Scotland.
As part of this partnership, the successful applicant will be employed by NHS Education for Scotland within the Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professions Directorate (NMAHP).
What you'll do
We are seeking to appoint a dynamic educator with extensive clinical expertise within Endoscopy practice to join our evolving NHS Scotland Academy Team. The postholder will support the Programme Lead for National Endoscopy Training programmes to deliver on the National Assistant Practitioner (Endoscopy) Programme to provide professional and educational leadership, through support and delivery of HCSW education including simulation-based learning.
Key tasks will include but are not restricted to;
- Support the Programme Lead within the National Endoscopy Training Programme NHS Scotland Academy (NHSSA) to deliver objectives within the National Assistant Practitioner Training Programme (Endoscopy).
- Manage, co-ordinate and support colleagues, within their specific area of Endoscopy expertise and across NHS Scotland, in the delivery of education within the context of the NHSSA.
- Support the planning, development and delivery of education and simulation-based learning for Assistant Practitioner’s within Endoscopy Practice.
- Liaison with key stakeholders regarding national service needs, with synthesis and analysis of needs and potential solutions. Maintain and enhance national links with key stakeholders across disciplines, informing service and educational development in a ‘Once for Scotland’ approach
- Developing briefing documents, background papers, reports, and other materials as appropriate for stakeholder groups such as Steering Groups and Scottish Government Health Department
- Support the Head of Programmes (Education) in managing the development of any future additional training provision, responsible for the educational implementation and delivery of training as well as the impact assessment.
What you'll bring
- Experience of planning, developing, and delivering education and training in an Endoscopy setting
- Professional registration, with the Nursing and Midwifery Council, General Medical Council or with the Health and Care Professions Council.
- Master’s degree (or actively working towards) or equivalent experience
- Substantial postgraduate and JETS/JAG experience, including enhanced responsibility in an educational or healthcare post.
- Significant experience in your specialist area and experience of working within a multidisciplinary environment. This is essential within the specific Endoscopy setting.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate sensitive and complex information in a time responsive manner
