Associate Medical Director (ScotSTAR) - Permanent

This is an exciting opportunity to provide senior medical leadership to the ScotSTAR (Scotland’s Specialist Transport and Retrieval) service which includes clinical teams from across Scotland.
ScotSTAR is hosted by the Scottish Ambulance Service on behalf of all NHS Scotland Health Boards and comprises three specialist transport and retrievals teams for NHS Scotland: Scottish Neonatal Transport Service, The Transport of Critically Ill and Injured Children Service and the Emergency Medical Retrieval Service. The clinical teams include consultants, nursing staff and paramedics employed by NHS Boards and the Scottish Ambulance Service.
In order to shape the effective delivery of all these elements, high quality clinical leadership is vital.
Applicants must have significant specialist transport and retrieval experience, be CCT holders (ideally in either: Emergency Medicine, Anaesthetics, Intensive Care Medicine, Paediatrics or Neonatology) and will demonstrate highly developed strategic awareness, leadership skills and the ability to work well within a multi-disciplinary team.
The post is part-time at 0.5WTE (5 PAs) (negotiable to 0.4WTE (4 PAs) depending on medical revalidation requirements).
The successful candidate will either be employed directly by the Scottish Ambulance Service, or a hosting arrangement with their current employer will be agreed.
