An exciting opportunity has arisen for the appointment of a Band 6 Practice Educator at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, working across Out Patient Departments, ANCHOR Unit, Cath Labs & Radiology departments.

The post-holder will be part of the divisional team, led by a Lead Practice Educator, who together with 3 other team members, will be responsible for supporting both pre and post registration Nurse training, as well as the development of Clinical Health Care Support Workers.

Applicants should be a Nurse with current NMC registration and;

  • Have extensive experience at Band 5 or above, in posts which included supporting and supervising learners in acute adult practice settings.

Currently ‘live’ on a local Mentor Register

  • Demonstrate experience of mentoring, teaching and facilitation in a range of clinical and educational settings.
  • Involvement in developing and using educational resources.
  • Provide evidence of working at post-graduate diploma level (or equivalent).

Also desirable would be;

  • An NMC Recordable Teaching Qualification, e.g. HELT or PgCertTHE.
  • Recent clinical experience of Oncology &/or Haematology Nursing

The post holder would be primarily covering departments within Aberdeen Royal Infirmary; however as this post is part of a wider Practice Education team covering the whole of NHS Grampian, further travel may be necessary for attending meetings/conferences/events.

The successful candidate will be offered mentorship and a full development plan to support their new role.
