Interested in primary mental health care? Would you like to be a part of the primary mental health service in Argyll and Bute Health and Social Care Partnership?  

Argyll and Bute Health and Social care partnership extends over 6,700 square kilometres with 23 inhabited islands and around 17% of the population lives on islands and with a coastline of more than 3,000km almost 80% of the population lives within one kilometre of the sea.

As part of the Primary Care Modernisation Programme we are supporting the ongoing development of the Primary Care Mental Health Service which will be closely aligned with General Practice in Argyll and Bute HSCP.

The post of Primary Care Mental Health Worker will have a negotiable base which will be confirmed on successful recruitment with base in Oban.

The main aim of the primary care mental health team is to increase access to evidenced based psychological therapies supporting common mental health conditions with improved patient outcomes.  In addition to delivering low intensity evidence based psychological interventions both individually and in groups the successful candidate will have a strong interest in promoting a wellbeing and recovery focussed approach.

You will have a Diploma/Degree in Mental Health Nursing or Occupational Therapy, excellent communication skills and an ability to work as part of a Multi-disciplinary team. A minimum of 3 year’s experience post registration in a mental health setting, preferably Primary Care Mental or Community Mental Health setting, is desirable as well as a positive attitude to people with mental health problems. You will be registered with the NMC or Health and Care Professions Council and have continued to develop your clinical skills, especially in working with mild to moderate mental health difficulties and using low intensity psychological therapies such as Behavioural activation and delivery of therapeutic and psycho educational groups. A qualification and experience in the delivery of psychological therapies would be advantageous.

Computer literacy and driving licence essential. 

Training, support and supervision will be provided.
