Job Advert

Applications are invited for a Consultant Haematologist post, specialising in haemostasis and thrombosis, for NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (GGC).

We are looking for a motivated individual to join the team of 28 Haematology consultants in Greater Glasgow & Clyde. The successful applicant will be based at GRI.

The post will provide haemostasis and thrombosis expertise to primary and secondary care in North Glasgow, with support given to haematology colleagues across the rest of GGC. In particular, the post holder will have a significant role in providing haemophilia services as a co-director of the West of Scotland Adult Haemophilia Comprehensive Care Centre, located in GRI.

The post holder will also have responsibility for providing non-malignant haematology care for patients at GRI to meet day case, outpatient, consultative and laboratory commitments. The responsibility of haemostasis and thrombosis services will be shared with one other consultant colleague, who has a similar service remit to this post, and is also based at GRI. General haematology responsibilities at GRI are shared with a further 2.0 WTE consultants.

This post arises from the retiral of an existing haematology consultant.

The successful applicant will be involved in the on-going development of Clinical & Laboratory Haematology services for GGC and adult haemophilia services in the West of Scotland. On-call responsibility will be at GRI (including West of Scotland Haemophilia Care) and will be 1 in 4.5 for this post.

You should be appropriately experienced and qualified in the specialty, fully registered with the GMC and have a licence to practice. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or eligibility for specialist registration (CESR) or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from date of interview.  Non UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.
