Applications are invited for a substantive consultant Medical Oncologist post with an interest in Renal and Germ Cell Cancer. The successful candidate will join an expanding team of established and supportive clinical and medical oncologists, working to develop the future Oncology services for NHS Tayside.

This is a full time (10 PA) post and Extra Programmed Activities may be available on discussion after appointment. Applicants wishing to work part time will be considered. There is the potential to scope and negotiate the post to suit your preferences and needs in career developments for example mixing sub-sites along with teaching, quality improvement and academic research.

Tayside is a beautiful part of Scotland, with many cultural and leisure activities and an excellent quality of life. Dundee has superb road and rail links with Edinburgh and Glasgow, each only an hour away, and Dundee Airport provides easy access to London.

The Tayside Cancer Centre in Ninewells Hospital consists of a 23 bedded in-patient ward; a chemotherapy day unit; a radiotherapy department radiotherapy and an out-patient department. At Perth Royal Infirmary there is a combined Oncology and Haematology Day Patient Area.

Radiotherapy services deliver specialist treatments including brachytherapy and SABR, and houses three Varian linear accelerators, one Canon Aquillion Wide Bore CT scanner, full mould room facilities, HDR brachytherapy facilities, and Raystation Version 9B treatment planning system.

The University of Dundee Medical School is integrated into the Ninewells Hospitals campus and has an international reputation for excellence in teaching and high impact clinical research. We were ranked 1st in the UK for medicine in the Complete University Guide 2021 and the Guardian University Guide 2021.

If you have trained in the UK you should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register from date of interview. Alternatively, you should possess a CESR/CESR (CP).    
If you have appropriate specialist training and experience but are not listed on the GMC Specialist Register you can be considered for a Locum Consultant post (up to 12 months).  Whilst in locum employment, you can apply to obtain a CESR / CESR (CP) and enter onto the Specialist Register.
