An exciting opportunity has arisen within Glasgow City HSCP for a full-time band 6 Health Improvement Senior to join the South Locality Health Improvement Team on a three year fixed term basis. 

Under the direction of the Prevention & Education Sub-group of Glasgow's Alcohol & Drug Partnership (ADP) you will work in partnership to drive and contribute to the development and delivery of the national alcohol and drug policy strategy within South Glasgow and citywide.  A commitment to working collaboratively, the ability to work as part of a team and a passion for promoting good health and wellbeing are essential. You will provide expert advice and support on raising awareness around drug and alcohol issues and stimulating action to reduce health inequalities. You will also be responsible for supporting health improvement activities within South Glasgow's recovery community to promote good physical & mental health. The post may provide additional support in work areas such as employability, criminal justice, financial inclusion and housing. 

You should be able to use your initiative when appropriate, and have a proven track record of delivering a variety of alcohol & drug prevention programmes and meeting performance targets e.g. Alcohol Brief Interventions. Experience of working within a multi-agency setting and negotiating with staff at all levels, a wide range of statutory and voluntary sector organisations and local communities is essential. You will have the flexibility to work on a variety of different projects at any one time, prioritising your work and managing tight deadlines, building capacity and delivering outcomes. In addition, applicants should have previous experience in planning, delivering and evaluating training and educational initiatives.  Applicants should be educated to degree level or with an equivalent professional qualification in a relevant discipline. Individuals will be expected to have an understanding of public health policy and practice through continuous personal development, maintaining public health competencies as an essential part of the role. You will be responsible in keeping up to date on current research, policies, evidence and best practice on alcohol and drug misuse and prevention initiatives. 

The post offered is for 5 days (37.5) hours per week, with a working pattern of Monday to Friday. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required. This role is available as a fixed term contract.
