As a major Strategic Business Unit within NHS National Services Scotland, the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) plays a vital role not only in the health of the people of Scotland but also on an international scale – through our leading position in new product development, biomedical research and donor services.  Our goal is to maintain the highest standards to patient care whilst remaining internationally competitive.

These positions have become available within our testing site at the Jack Copland Centre. The position provides an exciting and challenging opportunity for a suitably experienced, qualified and motivated healthcare professional.

Applications are invited for the above post from suitably qualified HCPC registered Biomedical Scientists who is educated to degree / equivalent level with a degree accredited by the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS) or a trainee BMS who holds a degree which is accredited by the IBMS suitable to allow the completion of a competency portfolio.

The donor testing department provides an essential service towards the provision of healthcare in Scotland. The department is responsible for testing specialised blood components from whole blood, tissue and apheresis collections.  

The post holder will be a member of the team working within the testing department. As part of that team, they will work to ensure that service delivery is carried out in a timely and efficient manner and to the highest of quality standards necessary to meet regulatory requirements. There are potentially both shift  positions and non shift positions (24/7 365 shifts) available.

The successful candidate will be required to undergo a Disclosure/Disclosure Scotland check. Any candidate who has worked overseas for more than 3 months will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency.
