Clinical Nurse Specialist, Gastroenterology

This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/ record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post. 

• The practitioner works in partnership with the IBD nurse practitioner team, GI consultants and the multidisciplinary team in the provision of a specialist IBD service to patients within the Gastroenterology Directorate in Lothian.
• The practitioner will provide clinic based services independently including general IBD/ drug counselling / Immunomodulator + Biologics review / patient education / transition of patients from children to adult services / support the telephone advice / help line.
• The practitioner as part of the specialist team uses audit to ensure that the quality of the IBD service is monitored.
• Will assist in providing specialist education, advice and training programmes for patients and other professional groups.
