Applications are invited for the post of Consultant in Respiratory and General Medicine. This is an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic team of Respiratory Physicians and influence the future design and direction of the Service.  It is our aim to encourage the special interest of the successful candidate.  Innovative ideas for service development are welcomed.    This rotational post will have in patient and receiving responsibilities at Inverclyde Royal Hospital  with outpatient clinics at both IRH and Royal Alexandria Hospital (RAH) sites.


The successful candidate will integrate with existing Consultant colleagues and provide clinical excellence in Respiratory Medicine within sector. The team also provide medical support to the Vale of Leven Hospital.  We have on site medical thoracoscopy, EBUS and thoracic ultrasound facilities. There is a full ITU and medical HDU. The Respiratory Department is supported by an enthusiastic team of Respiratory Nurse Specialists and Lung Cancer Nurse Specialists.


All major specialties are represented within Clyde Sector with Consultant Physicians with special interests in Acute Medicine, Cardiology, Diabetes & Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Respiratory Medicine, Rheumatology and Elderly Care.  


There are numerous teaching opportunities for both undergraduate and postgraduate medical education.  We have led the way in simulation training with onsite facilities.  There also is an active weekly CPD programme.


There are on-site car parking facilities on all sites.


Applicants must have full GMC registration and a licence to Practise. Those trained in the should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or eligibility for specialist registration (CESR) or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from date of Interview.  Non applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.
