The Combined Assessment Unit is part of the Emergency Care Centre. 

We have 4 different areas within the unit. We operate a triage area Monday to Friday where we receive all patients attending from GP referral’s, this is a nurse led area. 

The post holder will be working in a fast paced dynamic environment and will be involved in working with the Multi-disciplinary teams in providing safe and effective patient care. The post holder will be required to work in all areas of the unit and staff are allocated daily, to work areas. We have a 10 bedded initial assessment area, an 8 bedded Surgical assessment area and 24 short stay admission beds. The 24 medical beds are broken up into areas of 8 patients, you will be required to work in an with a HCSW if allocated. A level of physical ability will be required as we work dynamically to ensure flow of patients into the downstream wards; this requires a lot of bed movement from the unit.  The post holder will be part of the CAU team where we are committed to ensuring the best possible patient centred care is provided.
