Job Advert

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent 0.5wte psychological therapist as a result of Scottish Government investment in services for those experiencing symptoms of long Covid. The post would be ideal for either a Clinical Associate in Applied Psychology or a psychological therapist from a nursing, AHP or different professional background. The postholder will join NHS Forth Valley’s clinical health psychology specialty and will work alongside multi-disciplinary colleagues in mental and physical health services to provide direct therapeutic input for patients. There are likely to be opportunities to deliver group interventions, and to provide consultancy and training. This post is permanent and should the numbers of people presenting with long Covid decline over time then the clinical focus of the role may move towards other long term conditions. The clinical health psychology specialty has seen significant expansion over recent years and is closely aligned with other specialties within Psychological Services. As such there are ample opportunities for networking with psychological therapist colleagues including service wide reflective practice groups and CPD events. Staff wellbeing is given high priority, and both clinical supervision and professional management support will be arranged.

Candidates must possess a Mental Health Qualification (e.g.RMN, MHO,AHP, CAAP) as well as being trained in at least two high intensity, evidence-based psychological therapies e.g. CBT, TF-CBT, ACT, IPT, EMDR, schema therapy. Experience of working with people with long term conditions would be essential in this role. Group work experience would also be beneficial.

For informal enquiries please contact Dr Susie Porteous, Head of Psychological Specialty Services on 01324 614347.
