Band 4 - £22,700 to £24,973 per annum

Plus £1,074 Distant Islands Allowance per annum

37.5 Hours per Week

We require an enthusiastic, self-motivated, qualified Pharmacy Technician to join the Pharmacy team at Western Isles Hospital.

Based in Stornoway, you will have access to some of the UK’s most beautiful scenery including spectacular sandy beaches (with some of the best surfing in the UK), excellent diving sites and some more rugged terrain for the adventurous types. We are also only a short journey from Glasgow, Inverness and Edinburgh by plane, with twice daily ferry sailings to the mainland. You will assist the Senior Pharmacy Technician, Dispensary and Clinical Services in the following areas: - dispensing, clinical ward duties and supervision and training of assistant technical staff in the dispensary. The post-holder will have the opportunity to be assist in service developments in other areas of Medicines Management.

You must be registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council and have excellent communication and organisational skills, be computer literate and have recent post-qualification experience. Knowledge of current developments in hospital pharmacy practice is desirable and a commitment to continuing professional development is essential. Applicants must be able to manage their own workload and work as part of a team. The ability to use your initiative and work pro-actively is also a desirable quality of the post.
