NHS Lothian Prisons

1.0 wte Band 8A Permanent Post

This NHS Lothian position requires a Clinical Psychologist to join the prison mental health team in NHS Lothian in HMP Edinburgh and HMP Addiewell. This post is part of an expanding psychology service working in the prison setting to provide high quality psychological assessments and interventions for prisoners with mental health difficulties.  The successful postholder will work with the psychologists and psychological therapists in the team, as well as working in partnership with multidisciplinary NHS and SPS colleagues.  The development will aim to establish a tiered/matched care model of service delivery within a model of evidence based practice and increase access to NHS psychological therapies.  There are close links with forensic clinical psychology department and the wider psychology resource within NHS Lothian, with opportunities for research and continuing professional development.  Potential applicants are encouraged to undertake a visit of establishments prior to interview and to make contact about potential applications.

This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/ record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.
