An exciting opportunity has arisen within the infectious diseases and endocrine wards for a highly motivated individual to help lead, implement and  evaluate standards of good nursing care while contributing to the monitoring and management of the ward budget.

On a daily basis you will be responsible for ensuring that you lead our team promoting and providing a high quality care. You will ensure appropriate learning opportunities are met for all staff, encouraging best practice to deliver a high quality of patient care at all times in line with the  CAS standards framework. You will be responsible to the Senior Charge Nurse for clinical guidance and professional management. You will also deputise for the band 7 as required.

You will demonstrate excellent leadership, confident communication and effective organisational skills.

Evidence of personal development will be expected with a willingness to contribute to education and audit. A good understanding and knowledge of policy, procedures and national targets will be required to support the team.

You will posses substantial experience at band 5 level within a relevant setting and demonstrate a high level of IT skills.

You will be expected to train staff in areas relating to the specialty, participate in introducing new practices, take the lead in high risk situations in the absence of the senior charge nurse and liaise with all members of the team involved in patient care. You will also be responsible for ensuring ward is prepared for all high risk situations especially in relation to maintaining adequate stock levels for all conditions that may arise. Training & support will be provided.

 It is essential you are a Registered Adult Nurse with current NMC registration.


For the infectious diseases post it is desirable that you have relevant infectious diseases clinical experience at band 5 or above.

The shift pattern is Monday to Sunday 12 hours shifts,
