This post holder will lead and co-ordinate programmes of physical activity for health and active travel as part of the physical activity element of Type II Diabetes prevention & treatment and weight management programmes within the Lanarkshire Weight Management Service.


This work is required to support the effective delivery of the Lanarkshire Weight Management Service and achieve the strategic vision for the Lanarkshire Healthy Weight Strategy. The post holder will co-ordinate physical activity opportunities for participants within the LWMS and staff within NHS Lanarkshire and the Health & Social Care Partnerships in North and South Lanarkshire. The post holder will also co-ordinate a range of active travel opportunities to support the maintenance of active lifestyles for participants after exiting the service


Applying candidates must be qualified to degree standard and should have or be working towards a postgraduate qualification or have the equivalent knowledge and experience that demonstrates an understanding of health improvement/ health promotion/ public health at postgraduate level. Candidates should experience of Health Promotion / Public Health / Health Improvement as well as experience in partnership working and negotiation skill. Within this post, you will be expected to contribute to policy implementation and budget monitoring. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in the delivery of Health Improvement/Public Health projects.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate knowledge, understanding and application of appropriate public health competencies http://www.fph.org.uk/  February 2010, or be on or working towards the UKPHR Practitioner Registration and have knowledge of Local and National Policies and Strategies that affect the health of the population
