The Evidence Manager will provide management and leadership support to the Head of Evidence within NHS Lanarkshire, managing resources and services in partnership with site staff. They will play a lead role within the team to ensure the delivery of both local and national projects ensuring strategic outcomes are achieved, seamless working across services and resources, and to support improved efficiency, productivity, and patient outcomes through evidence based methodologies. In addition, they will also provide operational oversight of the site libraries and support and deputise for the Head of Evidence as required in the delivery of team outcomes.


Applying candidates should be educated to degree level or equivalent in librarianship and information studies or first degree and postgraduate diploma and should also have a chartered membership of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP).

Extensive experience at a professional level with highly developed skills in a range of specialist areas such as advanced literature searching and knowledge organisation will be essential for this role as well as knowledge of current legislation on copyright, freedom of information, intellectual property, data protection and other relevant legislation

Candidates should have a sound understanding of the NHS in Scotland, how it is structured and organised, the current key policy context and drivers and organisational constraints along with a wide knowledge of IT, database management, health databases and the internet.

Previous experience in training and developments in electronic delivery of information sources and in the use of new electronic information products along with previous experience of implementing tools and methodologies of evaluation and/or quality improvement and/or performance assessment would be an advantage. In addition, experience of managing a team of staff, managing multiple knowledge management projects and working with national projects, services and collaborative networks is essential for this position.

Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation skills and organisational skills including effective work planning for self and others and effective compliance with all organisational processes such as finance and audit is required.

Candidates should also have previous experience of creating, delivering and evaluating a variety of user training targeted at user and organisation needs and experience of working effectively on own, leading a team and as part of a team.
