What You'll Do 

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Psychology Directorate in a role funded by the Mental Health Division (MHD) of the Scottish Government Health Directorate (SGHD). We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated practitioner to deliver a portfolio of national educational initiatives in Psychological Therapies and Interventions for staff who work in integrated mental health settings with adults who have mental health problems.   

The post provides an opportunity for practitioners with experience in evidence based Psychological Therapies and Interventions to take a key role in a programme of work at national level that currently includes training/education developments supporting ‘Enhanced Psychological Practice Programme’, ‘Low Intensity Psychological Interventions for Secure Mental Health Settings’, ‘Safety and Stabilisation’ for staff working in forensic mental settings or prisons, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. 

What You'll Bring 

The successful applicants will be experienced, innovative and highly motivated health service or social service practitioners (qualified to Masters level or equivalent); who have significant experience of working within integrated mental health services providing evidence based psychological therapies and interventions within a stepped care service model to adults and / or older adults; teaching / training; facilitation; and working in a health or social care / education environment.  

Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills are essential, as is engagement in partnership working with a range of stakeholders. In addition, the post-holder will be committed to multi-professional and inter-agency approaches to education and healthcare, and will be able to demonstrate flexibility and high-level diplomacy skills.  


The base for the post with be Edinburgh or Glasgow but is important to note that it will be necessary for the successful applicant to attend a significant number of meetings in each city.  The post will require travel throughout Scotland, and occasionally to other UK countries.
