Who We Are

NHS Education for Scotland (NES) is the national health board with statutory responsibilities to effect sustainable change through workforce development, education and training across the health and social care system in Scotland, while working at UK level with partner organisations. NES has strategic partnerships with a range of stakeholders in relation to health protection including Public Health Scotland.


What you'll do 

This post will cover workforce education in relation to health protection with a particular focus on vaccination, key tasks will include but are not restricted to;

  • Lead and work with service specific multi-professional groups (in particular Public Health Scotland and NHS Boards) in the ongoing development of educational content, format, and updating of learning materials in response to new evidence or external review and evaluation of courses.
  • Manage and co-ordinate the defined workstream(s) within the area of expertise and within a project management structure. Workstream(s) managed may be national priorities and/or in sensitive policy areas.
  • Lead and manage the development of any future resources and additional training provision as required.
  • Develop and maintain effective links with key stakeholders in order to support wider NES activity.
  • Provide professional leadership to the workstream(s) and ensure that the project plan is fully integrated with stakeholders and the public.


What you'll bring

These will include but are not restricted to;

  • Experience of working in an educationally or knowledge management focused environment, including experience of planning and delivering education and training
  • Demonstrable leadership skills including experience of successfully managing staff and teams
  • Experience /understanding of the external political and social environment, including NHS policy issues and priorities, and the wider agenda of public policy impacting on other relevant agencies
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, negotiating and influencing skills
  • Ability to work autonomously to agreed objectives and timescales
