This post is required to provide clinical nurse specialist input to the daily assessment clinics at the West of Scotland Breast Screening Service. Approximately 5% of women who attend for screening are recalled for further assessment which is carried out by a specialist multi-disciplinary team and comprises additional imaging, breast examination and where relevant image guided biopsy. The specialist nurse would be required to participate in all aspects of multi disciplinary assessment including organisation of an attendance at the weekly multi-disciplinary diagnostic meeting and concomitant results clinic. In addition to providing emotional support to individuals recalled for assessment, the clinical nurse specialist would be required to show evidence of training in breast examination and breaking bad news. The clinical nurse specialist would be required to liaise with their equivalent in the symptomatic service to provide relevant onward referral to the appropriate symptomatic service (in GG&C, West Forth Valley and Lanarkshire Health Boards). It is essential you have a degree in Adult nursing and teaching experience post registration masters level Qualification or equivalent in Breast Examination desirable. You should have good communications skills, be able to deal with sensitive information. The hours of post will be Monday to Friday, part time hours will also be considered.
