An opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified, Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered, Specialist Biomedical Scientist with experience working in a Microbiology Laboratory to join the Microbiology department based in the Forth Valley Royal Hospital in Larbert.

You are required to hold the IBMS Specialist Diploma in Microbiology, or if you do not have this qualification you must be prepared to complete the portfolio on appointment.

Consideration will be given to applicants who are HCPC registered but lack relevant laboratory experience equivalent to a Specialist Biomedical Scientist. These applicants must be willing to undertake the IBMS Specialist Portfolio in Microbiology. If successful at interview, they will be required to complete their Specialist Portfolio and the schedule of in house training provided, within the agreed time scale, prior to progression, and the salary will be paid at Band 6 Annex 21 of the A4C Terms and Conditions.

Active participation in CPD and opportunities for further study are supported and encouraged.  You will be employed to work shifts over 7 days which include public holidays, evening and weekend shifts as required by the needs of the service.

This is a busy, well equipped department providing a service to the Acute Hospital, Community Hospitals and General Practices in Forth Valley.
The post will be based at Forth Valley Royal Hospital. The laboratory handles approximately 280,000 investigations per year, covering a wide range of analyses. We have recently implemented a range of new analysers including the Virtuo Blood Culture system, Vitek 2 –XL and Vitek –MS Maldi-TOF technology, IQ Sprint urinalysis and Vidas immunoassay, with Abbott Serology and Molecular solutions also on site.

The Laboratory is currently recommended for UKAS ISO: 15189 (2012) accreditation.
