Job Advert

Consultant Psychiatrist in Perinatal Psychiatry 0.9 WTE

This is a new post developed to accommodate the need for a substantive perinatal psychiatrist within Lanarkshire.

As of 2019, substantial funding has been released from the Scottish Government to ensure there is equitable and high quality Perinatal Psychiatric treatment and care delivered to pregnant and antenatal women within Scotland, and to develop sustainable services.  Further support from NES also recognised the need to formalise training in Perinatal Psychiatry and to support continuous professional development for staff working in this area. The post will be community based, and supported by an excellent and innovative perinatal mental health team who has worked hard to develop this post.  The successful colleague will contribute to the Perinatal and Infant Mental Health Work stream of the Lanarkshire Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy and be involved in education and training.

The post requires the candidate to be section 22 Approved although training can be given to those colleagues who are eligible. Substantive consultants will also be eligible to teach and train junior colleagues.  There is a commitment to being on call and include being part on a call Night Rota as well as being part of a day time senior doctor (Duty AMP Rota).

NHS Lanarkshire is an ambitious organisation aiming to improve the wellbeing of everyone we serve.  We have been one of the pioneers in implementing the Patient safety programme and there are established training and research groups as well as an excellent local teaching program.

Come and join the team of committed community staff and continue the work on quality, continuous improvement and patient safety, to make a difference and to contribute to transform future services.

Informal enquiries reading this post will be welcomed by Dr A Thom, Clinical Director on 01355 584379 or Dr Adam Daly, Associate Medical Director on 01355 585202
