This is an exciting and rewarding opportunity for a senior pharmacist to come and join the Pharmacy Leadership team to support and implement a transformational change programme in relation to the NHS Forth Valley Formulary and medicines management pathways. 

You will be part of the Area Pharmacy and Prescribing Support team which is an integral part of the single system pharmacy service in NHS Forth Valley. This post has a broad remit with a requirement to develop and implement a workplan which will transform the NHS Forth Valley formulary in order to implement a high quality, cost effective prescribing programme across the whole system (primary and secondary care).


You will provide strategic support to the Associate Director of Pharmacy and Pharmacy Leadership team in relation to cost effective medicines, medicines safety and governance. You will also provide proactive advice, support and direction to clinicians, managers and other pharmacy colleagues on medicines management matters; manage formulary processes and clinical guidance. You will also play a key part role to ensure that current medicines management systems and processes are advanced to support the safe and cost-effective use of medicines.


 Experience of developing medicine guidelines, procedures and protocols and formulary development are essential.  The post holder will have demonstrable experience of service delivery, excellent leadership and management skills and have highly effective interpersonal, communication and influencing skills. You will also have a clear commitment to the NHS Forth Valley values of being a committed team member, ambitious, supportive, person centered, respectful and integrity. You will be a registered Pharmacist with a degree in Pharmacy or equivalent. In addition, you will have a relevant post graduate qualification in Pharmacy or equivalent experience. Part-time and job share arrangements will be considered for the right candidate. Visits to the department to meet the team and see all that this job can offer are encouraged. This is an 18 month secondment and therefore applications should be submitted provided that you have prior agreement from your current line manager.
