We are seeking to recruit enthusiastic and motivated band 5 Registered children’s nurse who will be able to work within the dynamic multi-disciplinary team of a busy acute paediatric ward within a District General hospital, which look after sick children under sixteen.
The successful applicants will work between the acute ward, Paediatric short stay assessment unit and children’s outpatient department. The post holder may also be expected to work within the neonatal unit when required. The post holders will be required to be flexible with the hours in which they will be able to work and will be expected to work shifts.e.g 0730-2000hrs, 1930-0800hrs over a 7 day period.
The children’s ward is situated within the Women and children’s wing of the new Dumfries and Galloway Royal infirmary. There are currently 24 single rooms which are split between the main in-patient ward and the children’s short stay unit. 
The children’s ward has been involved in the Maternity and children’s quality improvement collaborative (MCQIC) programme and you will be required to participate in the ongoing quality improvement initiatives within the unit.
The post holders will possess a nursing qualification and will be expected to participate in further education and training to enhance personal and professional development within the speciality. 
The post holders will be expected to participate in ongoing development within the unit. The post holders should have an understanding of multi- agency working and should have knowledge and of local child protection guidelines and policies.
