You will be expected to provide a specialised clinical psychology service which supports the development and delivery of psychological interventions and therapies (PI/PTs) to older people, across all sectors of care; providing highly specialist psychological assessment and therapy, at the same time as offering advice and consultation on clients' psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues and to other, non professional carers, working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team's policies and procedures.

 

 

In addition to direct work with  clients, you will  be responsible for providing staff training, support and supervision to MDT colleagues involved in the delivery of PI/PTs to older people in . You will ensure the Older People Mental Health Service develops capacity within a tiered-care model, addressing gaps in provision and developing robust governance arrangements. You will also be required to work collaboratively with MDT and Older People's Psychology Service (OPPS) colleagues, to improve care pathways and access to a stepped and matched care model of Pis for older people in , widening access and improving outcomes for older people.

 

You will utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the area served by the team/service, and also provide clinical and professional supervision to trainees undertaking Doctoral training; and provide clinical supervision and line management to all psychology staff working within the OP Psychology service in South Locality, Glasgow HSCP. You will be required to undertake service developments which have an impact beyond own area of practice.

 

You will have substantial knowledge, skills and experience of working in specialist services for older people; skills in leadership within multi­ disciplinary and multi-agency contexts; and experience of providing consultation on psychological aspects of care.


It is essential you have Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS or HCPC, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology. Further post-doctoral training, research and study across a range of areas, including advanced clinical skills over a substantial period, which also includes work at specialist level would be beneficial.

 

The shift pattern is worked Monday to Friday 9.00am to 5.00pm.
