Principal Clinical Psychologist, 0.7wte, Band 8A, Permanent

 

We are looking for a Principal Clinical Psychologist to join a network of 70 Clinical Psychologists providing services to Children & Young People in a range of specialist services across NHS Greater Glasgow and .  This particular post offers an exciting opportunity to join the multi-disciplinary Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service working with young people and their families in West Dunbartonshire HSCP.  The post is based at the Acorn Centre, Vale of Leven Hospital, .

 

As a Principal Clinical Psychologist you will be required to provide a specialised clinical psychology service to clients of the service team, across all sectors of care; providing highly specialist psychological assessment and therapy at the same time as offering advice and consultation on clients’ psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues and to other, non professional carers, working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team’s policies and procedures.  You will utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the area served by the team/service.  In addition you will provide clinical and professional supervision to qualified clinical psychologists (as delegated by the lead professional consultant clinical psychologist) and to trainees undertaking doctoral and MSc training.  You will undertake service development within your own area of practice. The service development area will be negotiated by local managers but will also be in line with city-wide and national strategy. The specific details of the targeted service development area will be written in to an appropriate job plan.


You will have a British Psychological Society accredited post graduate qualification in Clinical Psychology and be eligible for registration as a Clinical Psychologist with the Health & Care Professions Council.


You will have significant clinical psychology practice experience in NHS or equivalent, supervised by a suitably qualified Clinical Psychologist.  This post requires experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course and presenting with the full range of clinical severity across the full range of care settings including outpatient, community, primary care, in-patient and residential care settings.  You will also have experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for clients’ psychological care and treatment, both as an independent practitioner and also within the context of a multi-disciplinary care plan. Experience of teaching, training and/or professional and clinical supervision will be required, in addition to skills as a senior clinician to undertake clinical leadership roles and providing consultation within multidisciplinary and multi-agency contexts.

A current Drivers Licence is required for this post.
