The Donor Services Department is responsible for the planning and provision of adequate supplies of safe, high quality blood components for NHS Scotland in full compliance with regulatory requirements.


An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the multidisciplinary Service and Quality Improvement Specialist Function (SQI) within the Donor and Transport Services Department of the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service.  The principal function of SQI Team is to support and implement service and quality improvements rapidly and effectively across Donor and Transport Services, maintaining regulatory compliance, consistent standards, identify training requirements and delivering training programs.


We are seeking applications from a First Level Registered Nurse with experience at a senior level.  You will have a Masters Degree or be able to demonstrate working at Masters level.  You must have proven clinical and leadership skills with evidence of ongoing professional development working within the competencies framework.


The primary responsibilities of the successful candidate will be to:
•    Foster a culture of openness and enquiry, supporting the delivery, development and implementation of evidence based quality improvement initiatives to ensure a professional service to donors and patients
•    Lead responsibility in the delivery and development of improved performance
•    Lead responsibility in monitoring training programs and associated competency assessments within own area are met
•    Create, develop, deliver and evaluate training programs for Donor Services
•    Ensure compliance with standards and regulatory requirements providing expert advice   


The successful candidate will have a keen interest in quality improvement and change management.  The post requires individuals to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organisational, forward planning and problem solving abilities are also essential. You will be self motivated, proactive and an innovative individual with the ability to be flexible and react positively to on-going changing demands and priorities.


This post will be based in Glasgow and you will also be expected to travel to other sites within Scotland as required.


The successful candidate will be required to undergo a PVG Scheme Disclosure Scotland check. Any candidate who has worked overseas for more than 3 months will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency.


Candidates must have current NMC registration at the time of applying.
