CONSULTANT IN GENERAL ADULT PSYCHIATRY
FULL-TIME POST (10 PA’s)
We seek to appoint a highly-motivated Clinician with an enthusiasm for General Adult Psychiatry. The post holder will be welcomed into a friendly and forward thinking team of Consultants where peer support is valued and protected.
This is a post covering the adult population of the Caithness and NW Sutherland area of North Highland. The post holder will travel to these areas as part of the role. The community mental health teams are well established, comprising of CPN’s, CBT nurse therapist, Social Worker, CPN’s for addictions, MHO, Housing Officer, mental health support workers and administrative staff. The post holder will work closely with the locality CMHT, providing out-patient as well as in-patient services in New Craigs Hospital in Inverness. The successful candidate will be supported to attend clinical teaching, group meetings, and CPD at New Craigs Hospital.
Applicants must be on the GMC specialist register in General Adult Psychiatry or within 6 months of award of CCT by date of interview as consideration can be given to appoint on a proleptic basis.
This post is offered as 10 PA’s per week and attracts one Special Interest Session in addition to one session of SPA, incorporated in the job plan. Also, the current timetable spreads the 10 sessions over 4 days. The timetable however is negotiable.
Research proposals which are in line with service requirements would be considered favourably. This post will also involve participation in the Consultant on call rota on a 1:20 basis. Applications for flexible working will be considered.
