An exciting opportunity has arisen to provide specialist physiotherapy intervention in our MSK Out-Patient departments based within Ninewells Hospital, Kings Cross Health & Community Care Centre and GP practices across Dundee.


You will work alongside an experienced team, including a 'McKenzie Institute International' senior instructor and an 'Orthopaedic Medicine International' course instructor. In addition the department runs an Orthopaedic Triage Clinic alongside a Sport, Exercise and Musculoskeletal Medicine Physician who has local and international experience including Olympic and Commonwealth Games.  


This post provides the opportunity to develop a wide range of skills and supervisory experience in the MSK OP departments across Ninewells and Kings Cross Health and Community Care Centre.  The postholder will rotate through MSK OP, and will gain experience in general MSK OP, Rheumatology, Pain, Pelvic & Obstetric Health and Hand Therapy services.


You should have demonstrable advanced clinical skills/knowledge, from postgraduate courses/in service, as evidenced in your Continued Professional Development portfolio with comprehensive knowledge of best practice / clinical guidelines / standards across the specialities.  


You will have a caseload incorporating patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment and discharge, have responsibility for the supervision, education and development of more junior staff, physiotherapy support workers and students within the speciality, provide a specialised resource to other healthcare staff/patients/carers and have an active involvement in Clinical Governance and Clinical Effectiveness and Research.  


The Physiotherapy service in Dundee (Tayside) has recently won national awards across several specialties, and all staff are dedicated to deliver the best service possible through expanding skills and knowledge, streamlining service and providing the best in patient care. The department has strong links with Universities providing student placements primarily from Edinburgh and Aberdeen.
