The primary role is to work alongside the multidisciplinary team and assist the Lead Nurse and the Senior Charge Nurses in the provision of a co-ordinated, seamless approach to Burns and Plastic Surgery patient flow.  You will assist with the improvement of the journey of Burns and Plastic Surgery  patients minimising theatre cancellations and maximising the use of the theatre time liaising with surgeons, anaesthetists, Pre Operative Assessment, wards, theatre and clinic staff.  You will assist the nursing teams on the Enhanced Recovery Programme for breast reconstruction.  You will liaise with A&E staff regarding burns and plastic surgery emergencies and ensure that A&E 4 hour target is met.  You will participate in the development of systems to receive an EDD list for all patients from senior charge nurses and liaise with Senior Charge Nurses to provide timely interventions for patients to improve length of stay by ensuring good communications and record keeping.  You will prioritise in conjunction with medical, nursing and critical care staff patients awaiting emergency surgery.  It is essential that you are currently a Registered Nurse with the NMC and that you have relevant post graduate experience.  You should have evidence of continuing professional development.  The shift pattern for this post is Monday - Friday (core shifts) you should be flexible to meet the needs of clinical in other sites.
