Job Advert

An exciting opportunity for an individual to work as part of the North of Scotland Regional CAMHS Tier 4 Network Team, based within NHS Highland, providing services to those aged 12-18 suffering from severe mental ill-health.

The North of Scotland CAMHS Tier 4 Network Team supports the regional Young People’s Inpatient Unit (YPU) which provides 12 beds within a purpose built facility in Dundee.  The YPU provides intensive inpatient assessment, care and treatment for adolescents who suffer from major psychiatric disorders with needs that cannot be within an outpatient, day service or local community environment.  A broad range of therapeutic interventions, including individual group and family work are offered.

The Network Liaison Nurses (based in Grampian, Highland and Tayside) are central to the network in supporting young people across the North of Scotland, developing effective links with local Board CAMHS teams and the YPU.  The partner Health Boards are NHS Grampian, NHS Highland, NHS Orkney, NHS Shetland and NHS Tayside.  Underpinning the operation of the network is the bespoke North of Scotland Tier 4 CAMHS Integrated Care Pathway and its implementation is a key focus for all network staff.

The Network Liaison Nurse will have a lead role in an intensive integrated service, with overall responsibility for the nursing management of a caseload of young people presenting with a diversity of complex mental health needs.  The post holder will work autonomously as an expert practitioner to ensure that care needs are assessed and programmes of care developed, implemented and evaluated in partnership with patients and families.  They will also provide specialist advice to healthcare professionals, other agencies, carers, relatives and children and young people.

You will be accountable to the Network Manager based in Tayside, who is charged with the operational management and strategic leadership of the Network team.  You will significantly contribute to developing positive partnerships across Boards and with Local Authorities to ensure a continued strategic shared vision for the network.  You will possess a contemporary knowledge in CAMHS practice, drivers and legislation and will promote high quality patient centred care in line with national strategies and standards.

You will be a first level registered Mental Health Nurse educated to degree level, or with a portfolio of evidence demonstrating equivalent experience at that level, with evidence of ongoing professional development with post-registration experience in CAMHS.  Your experience base will include having delivered care to young people with a Tier 4 level of need.

The agreed network model requires that you be based in Inverness; there will be a requirement to travel throughout the network areas, which may require overnight stays.

Informal enquiries to Susan Hynes, CAMHS Regional Network Manager on 01382 649031.
