Applications are invited from enthusiastic and motivated candidates for the full time post of Team Manager within the Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (H&I} Laboratory.  The H&l Laboratory is located in a purpose built laboratory at Gartnavel General Hospital in Glasgow and is within the Diagnostics Directorate of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde Health Board. The H&l Laboratory provides a service to support the following clinical programmes: Serving the West of Scotland:  Adult and paediatric renal transplantation Disease Association.  Serving all of Scotland: Related and unrelated adult and paediatric haematopoietic progenitor cell transplantation.  Adult cardiac transplantation.  You will  be responsible for the day-to-day management of sections within the Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (H&I} laboratory on a rotational basis. You will be required to supervise additional teams within the department when the respective Team Manager is absent, and on occasions to deputise for the Technical Manager. You will also be responsible for the duties within a team that ensure the provision of a high quality, efficient, highly specialised H&l service to patients, and will contribute to the ongoing development of the laboratory service.  You should have experience with molecular biology techniques (PCR, oligonucleotide probing, DNA sequencing), donor-recipient crossmatching (CDC and flow cytometry), and antibody analysis (Luminex) are essential. On call experience, for Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics is essential.  Qualifications essential for this post are an honours degree in a biological subject approved by the Health Professions Council (HCPC}. You must also be state registered as a Biomedical Scientist or Clinical Scientist with the HCPC. It is desirable that you have achieved the British Society for Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics Diploma in H & I (Certificate of Competence) and have a Masters Degree (or equivalent) in Biomedical Science.  The shift pattern for this post is 8.30am – 4.30pm.
