Job Advert

We are looking for innovative and dynamic nurses to work within the Acute/Clinical Assessment Unit in Forth Valley Royal Hospital. We provide acute assessment and treatment of patients with a wide variety of medical complaints. We play a pivotal role in maintaining flow throughout the hospital from our emergency department to the downstream wards/specialities.

We have 4 different areas within the unit.  CAU is a 16 bayed assessment unit and AAU at present is a 46 bedded admission unit with a view to developing a 10 bedded frailty at the front door unit.  In CAU we operate a nurse led triage area 7 days a week where we receive patients attending from GP referrals/ED and clinics. The post holder will be required to rotate/work in all areas of the unit and staff are allocated daily, to work in specific areas.

The Assessment Unit is a fast paced dynamic environment and the post holder will be involved in working closely with all members of the Multi-disciplinary teams in providing safe and effective patient care.  Successful applicants should have a flexible approach to patient care and will be responsible for the initial assessment, planning and implementation of first line management in an acute setting.  A genuine interest in acute medical nursing is essential.  Experience is preferred but applications from newly qualified nurses will be considered.

We are currently recruiting for full-time and part-time permanent posts.

Informal enquiries are welcomed by the Senior Charge Nurses.  For further information please contact Carolyn McKenzie or Ann McKean on Tel. 01324 566023.

The duties of this post require the successful candidate to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme.  More information on this scheme can be found at www.disclosurescotland.co.uk
