Job Advert

A vacancy has arisen at the National Child Psychiatry Inpatient Unit based in Ward 4, Royal Hospital for Children for a staff nurse within Specialist Children's Services. This is a full time post with a shift pattern of 24 hour rotation covering 7 days a week. The nursing team within the Child and Adolescent Mental Heath Services (CAMHS) Inpatient Services provides recovery based care. You will have the responsibility for the assessment of patient care needs and the development and evaluation of programmes of care and will be expected to carry out all relevant forms of care in partnership with patients, carers and other professionals and in line with agreed standards and clinical policies. Regularly taking charge of the ward and the supervision and teaching of less experienced staff, both qualified and unqualified, will be an important aspect of the role. There will also be a requirement to work in both community and home settings. You will be a Registered Mental Health Nurse or Registered Learning Disability Nurse  with evidence of excellent team working skills, effective communication skills, the ability to work using own initiative and with minimal supervision and knowledge of current legislation, Mental Health (Care & Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003, Child Protection and Community Care approach. As part of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde's pre employment checking for all appointed candidates, evidence of current NMC registration will be required prior to start date. You should therefore note candidates who are unable to provide confirmation of current NMC registration, in line with projected start date for this post, may not be short listed for interview.

You will be expected to work between the Child Psychiatry in patient Unit and the Adolescent Psychiatry in Patient Unit as needs arise.
