Applications are invited for a locum Thoracic Consultant Surgeon to join the West of Scotland Regional Heart and Lung Centre based at the Golden Jubilee National Hospital.
GJNH is a UK leader in Video Assisted Thoracic Surgery (VATS) which is the predominant surgical approach used within the Board in the treatment of lung cancer. Recent investment in Robotics (da Vinci X) supports the development of this programme
Cardiothoracic surgery in the West of Scotland is provided solely for a population of 2.2 million in the West of Scotland Heart & Lung Centre at the Golden Jubilee National Hospital. The full range of outpatient and inpatient facilities are provided on site with a network of outreach clinics & multidisciplinary meetings supporting regional and local care. The hospital additionally is the national base for the three National Services - Scottish Adult Congenital Cardiac Service, Scottish Advanced Heart Failure and Scottish Pulmonary Vascular Units with a ward dedicated to the care of the patients.
The successful applicant will join a department of 18 consultant cardiothoracic surgeons. A full range of thoracic surgery is carried out including minimally invasive and complex oncological surgery.
Applicants should hold full GMC registration and be on the Specialist Register or be eligible for admission to the register within 6 months of the interview date.
