AFC Band 5:£24,670 - £30,742 per annum

 

 

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced Biomedical Scientists who have HCPC registration and experience within Clinical Biochemistry, Haematology or Blood Transfusion Laboratories.

 

The post is also open to Biomedical Scientists or graduates with an Applied Biomedical Science (Hons) degree who are in a position to successfully apply for HCPC registration.


Newly graduated candidates, if successful, will be placed on Band 5 and will be required to successfully complete appropriate training (within an agreed timescale) in Clinical Biochemistry, Haematology and Blood Transfusion prior to progression to Band 6.

 

Once progression to Band 6 is achieved, the successful candidate will be expected to participate fully in the Continuous Processing Shift system currently in operation which is EWTD compliant and attracts appropriate remuneration.


The Department of Biomedical Sciences is a UKAS accredited multidisciplinary laboratory, accepted by MHRA to be generally compliant with the Blood Safety and Quality Regulations and provides Clinical Biochemistry, Haematology and Blood Transfusion services to Dr Gray’s Hospital.


Experience in all disciplines is desirable but not essential, as full training in all sections of the laboratory will be given.  Commitment to the provision of a 24/7 hour service is a mandatory requirement for this post and the successful applicant will be expected to fully participate in the 24hr shift pattern once trained.


The department utilises APEX and TraceLine laboratory information systems with paperless test requesting via TrakCare Order Communications.
