SCOTTISH GRADUATE ENTRY MEDICINE (SCOTGEM) FIFE REGIONAL GENERALIST CLINICAL MENTOR (GCM)

6 academic sessions, 2 clinical sessions

 

Are you an experienced GP who can provide credible clinical mentorship?  Do you have an interest in medical education?

 

The Scottish Graduate Entry Medicine (ScotGEM) programme was commissioned by the Scottish Government with a specific remit to widen access to medicine and promote generalist medical careers especially in rural areas. A self-motivated, practicing GP, you will work 2 clinical sessions per week in a ScotGEM approved Fife host GP Practice and 6 academic sessions at the University of St Andrews and Fife ScotGEM Learning locations.

 

In this new role providing resilience within the current team, you should be an enthusiastic advocate for ScotGEM promoting its ethos to students and amongst colleagues.  The post holder is required to work 3 days (6 academic sessions) on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdy and 2 clinical sessions in a GP practice in Fife.  This GCM will engage in ScotGEM Programme related activity e.g. writing, reviewing and curating content for Clinical Interactions Course (CLIC) and GCM days, OSCE and MCQ question writing and validation.  They would cover existing GCMs to allow peer review and QA activity, as well as releasing them fromcovering for occasional clinic teaching.
