A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Research and Development Lead who will have a key role in our Research Team, working closely with our Innovation Team and part of the Forth Valley Quality Team.

The post holder will be instrumental in the delivery of our strategic objectives for research and development, supporting and growing research activity and recruitment and leading in research governance, whilst increasing our support for researchers, the organisation’s research skills, knowledge and capacity base.

Managing the Research Team and working closely with our Clinical Director for R&D, Innovation Lead, clinical and care research community, NHS Forth Valley and Health and Social Care Partnership colleagues and external partners, to support the active research portfolio and ensure all studies across the organisation are undertaken to the highest standards within timelines and meeting recruitment targets.

Through our Forth Valley University College NHS Partnership the postholder will contribute to identifying research and innovation opportunities and developing joint grant and funding bids.

Educated to research masters/doctorate level in a scientific/healthcare discipline.

Extensive experience in research and development or working in a research environment including a substantial experience at senior level.

Able to demonstrate knowledge of NHS Scotland’s Leadership Qualities and NHS Forth Valley values

Substantial professional, leadership and management experience in research and development that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge to lead and manage research and development safely, effectively, and efficiently

Experience of applying advanced analytics in support of research and development

Demonstrate a high level of competence and excellence in R&D leadership, expert practice, strategic planning / service development, education and training, quality control, governance and assurance and improvement.

Specialist knowledge and ability to interpret complex research legislation, regulation and guidance, research ethics, approvals processes, grant funding applications, research costing and funding streams, tissue governance, intellectual property protection, exploitation, and commercialisation.

Experience of research capability and capacity processes for research and development

Experience of teaching others.

Proven ability to develop effective working relationships with colleagues at all levels.

Ability and willingness to travel throughout the area of service delivery is essential for this post.
