Are you passionate about promoting breastfeeding and infant nutrition? An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Infant feeding Team in this newly created post of Infant Feeding Adviser.

The Infant Nutrition Feeding Team is designed to lead improvements in maternal and infant nutrition in Forth Valley. The successful candidate will work primarily with the Infant Feeding Coordinator for Community Services but will also work with the other members of the Team to ensure a Forth Valley wide approach.  The key focus will be enabling progress to achieve sustainability of the Baby Friendly Initiative following the successful recent re-accreditation in the community. In addition you will help facilitate improvement in breastfeeding rates through exploring a range of approaches.

You will work primarily with the health visiting service but will also work with a wide range of stakeholders - both internal and external - who are engaged in working with mothers and infants. A significant part of the role will be delivery of the BFI audit process and in addition you will support delivery of training and education to address identified needs.

You must be a good communicator with excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrate an ability to work with different professional groups. It is desirable that the successful applicant be able to demonstrate an interest in quality improvement work. You should also have a good awareness of national policies around breast feeding and a willingness to take an active lead in the implementation of these policies locally. Whilst the post is full time reduced hours might be considered for a suitable candidate.

The duties of this post require the successful candidate to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme.  More information on this scheme can be found at www.disclosurescotland.co.uk
