We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Dietetic Assistant with an interest in nutrition to join the Nutrition and Dietetic Department.

This role will include direct patient contact; e.g. collecting baseline data and food preferences, liaison with catering and nursing staff and assisting the Dietitians with the assessment and monitoring of patients nutritional intake.  Liaising with community staff as part of the patient’s discharge.  There may also be site specific tasks as identified by senior Dietitians.

The role will also include responsibility for the ordering and stock check of specialist Dietetic products via an electronic ordering system.

You may also be involved in Health Promotion and other training activities within the department.

Experience of working with people along with good communication and IT skills are essential.  On-going training and supervision will be provided as required.

The Department:
The Nutrition & Dietetic Department is a Fife wide service providing Dietetic care to one Acute hospital, Primary Care hospitals and the community.   The department is currently arranged into clinical groups for; Acute, Diabetes, Mental Health, Nutritional Support, Older People and Infant Nutrition & Paediatrics. 
There are also specialist Dietitians working in the Health Promotion/Dietetics Food & Health team and working with the Prescribing teams. 

The Acute team is made up of 15.2wte (14 Dietitians, two Dietetic Assistants and clerical staff).

The Dietetic department takes both undergraduate and graduate Dietetic students for B & C programmes each year; involving staff in the delivery and organisation of the programmes.  The department runs regular department training sessions and supports staff in their continuing professional development.  The department has good clerical support, IT, internet and library facilities.
