The opportunity has arisen to appoint a qualified Clinical Physiologist to join the Clinical Respiratory Physiology team at NHS Forth Valley in the role of Highly Specialised Clinical Physiologist Band 7 within Respiratory Lab services.
NHS Forth Valley provide a wide range of Respiratory Physiology services accessed by Primary and Secondary care.  All aspects of respiratory function tests are undertaken including CPET.  From vetting and triaging referrals to the supply and governance around clinical equipment, the delivery of investigation and interpretation of results from monitoring procedures, this is highly functioning department which is delivered over 2 sites, Forth Valley Royal and Stirling Health and Care Village, Outpatient Centre.

The post holder will be responsible for organising clinics in conjunction with the outpatient and inpatient referral service providing reports on throughput, waiting times and possible areas for improvement for discussion at multi-disciplinary team meetings.

NHS Forth Valley has ambitions to develop the Pulmonary Function and Sleep Physiology Service into a highly functioning and quality service over the coming years. There will be an expectation to contribute to policy and procedure reviews and to the future development of Respiratory Physiology services.
The successful candidate would be expected to deliver clinical investigation, manage, lead and inspire the current team while focussing on performance and service development.

This post will also share responsibility for training other Clinical Physiologists and support teaching of medical and nursing students.

The post holder will be a contributing member of the Forth Valley Healthcare Science Forum and HCS initiatives locally.

Hours of work are: 37 hours per week, averaged over a Monday to Friday pattern.

It is expected that in line with service demand and unforeseen circumstances that some weekend working will be undertaken.

Clinical Physiologists are actively encouraged to participate in CPD, audit and research. Academy of Healthcare Science (AHCS) registration is a requirement.

The successful candidate should possess:

BSc Clinical Physiology (Respiratory) or equivalent and preferably evidence of masters level study which can be modular. Have a high-level experience in one or more specialised areas of Clinical Physiology.
