The Queen Elizabeth University Hospital is one of the largest acute hospitals in the UK and home to major specialist services such as renal medicine, transplantation and vascular surgery, with state-of-the-art Critical Care, Theatre and Diagnostic Services. The Royal Hospital for Children is adjoined to the adult hospital and has 244 paediatric beds with a further 12 neonatal beds in the maternity unit. This hospital provides a large number of specialist services to the West of Scotland and the wider population of Scotland in addition to a full range of secondary care services including cardiology and cardiac surgery, renal and bone marrow transplantation. For a number of these services, the children’s hospital is recognised as the sole provider in Scotland. We are looking for a suitably qualified, Pharmacy Technician to join our friendly and supportive team in the delivery of clinical pharmacy services within each specialty ensuring the safe and effective supply of medicines to patients. You will have a key role in providing an effective Making the Most of Your Medicines service at ward level for both Adults and Children – this will include supporting, training and mentoring pharmacy technicians and pharmacy support workers with their development using Turas Appraisal. You will be an integral member of the pharmacy team working in the main department and at ward level liaising closely with the wider multidisciplinary team. We have a number of near patient dispensing areas in the Adult and Children’s hospital that you will get the opportunity to work from on a rotational basis. You must be able to demonstrate an ability to lead and motivate a team. Good communication skills with the ability to organise and prioritise workload are essential. You will possess an NC in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent, SVQ level 3 or equivalent, be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council and have a recognised accredited final accuracy checking qualification. You will work 5/7 days and participate in weekend working and public holiday service.
