Job Advert

The Acute Admissions Unit (AAU) is a medical admissions ward which receives acutely unwell patients requiring admission into the hospital primarily from the ED, urgent care centre, GP and out of hours services.  We strive to deliver the highest quality patient care and experience from admission to discharge. You will be working closely with a dynamic multi professional team to provide high quality, compassionate care to the communities we serve.

We are seeking applications from highly motivated individuals to apply for a Band 6 Senior staff nurse role. We hope to welcome you to our highly skilled and friendly team. We require relevant acute medical admissions experience. The rapid turnover of patients requires you to effectively manage a caseload of patients with a variety of conditions. You must be able to prioritise and manage clinically unwell patients and facilitate safe admissions, discharges and transfers. You should also be expert in looking after patients who are end of life, acutely unwell and deteriorating patients and patients with mental health and substance misuse issues. Experience of managing the acutely unwell, deteriorating patient is essential.

You must be a hard working and motivated individual who is able to carry out highly skilled care planning and assessment and have good clinical acumen within our speciality. You will be expected to have strong leadership skills and be able to take on the role of a team leader who is able to facilitate, support and manage staff on a regular basis. You must be a role model for compassionate care, advocating for patient safety and quality care and acting with candour at all times

We have a particular passion for the training and development of our staff and students so you must have a commitment to mentoring, preceptoring and facilitation of development on the ward. You must also be open in terms of the development of your own skills. All nurses are supported by visible clinical senior nursing teams including a clinical Dr of Nursing, clinical nurse managers, senior charge nurses, clinical educator, advanced nurse practitioners and specialist nurses. You will have good opportunities to take part in the multitude of training and development opportunities that the organisation and ward offers.

You will be expected to work a flexible work pattern which includes days, night, weekend and public holiday rotation.

If you are up for the challenge, we look forward to hearing from you.
