NHS Forth Valley seeks to appoint a registered mental health nurse to the position of Clinical Nurse Manager for the Inpatient Rehabilitation and Low Secure Services in Bellsdyke Hospital and the Forensic Community Mental Health Service.  The Clinical Nurse Manager plays a critical role in clinical, managerial and professional nurse leadership with operational responsibility for four inpatient mental health wards and the Community Forensic Mental Health Service.  We invite applications from those who are motivated to enhance, and continually improve mental health services and who can combine management and leadership with knowledge and skills in mental health nursing. 

The wards include two Low Secure wards, one for men and one for women, and two Rehabilitation Wards which are currently being redesigned as part of the modernisation of our services.  The Forensic Mental Health Service is a specialist Forth Valley-wide community service which works closely with all parts of the health, social care and justice systems to support patients with severe mental illness and a forensic history. 

The successful applicant will ensure effective operation of these services through visible clinical leadership, operational and professional management of nursing staff and support service development.  You will work collaboratively with managers across the Mental Health and Learning Disability Services to ensure high quality patient care and treatment across the system.  The successful candidate will provide mental health management, support and advice through the on-call management rota. 

This post will work closely with the Service Manager, providing operational assurance on service delivery, including management of employee relations and the operational budget.  The provision of professional nursing leadership is supported and assured by the Chief Nurse. The successful candidate will report directly to the Chief Nurse from a professional leadership perspective and work with Clinical Director colleagues to support the triumvirate structure of Chief Nurse, Service Manager and Associate Medical Director. 

The successful post holder will play an integral part in the ongoing review of services ensuring the patient pathways through low secure, rehabilitation and forensic mental health services are cohesive.  The successful candidate will be expected to represent NHS Forth Valley’s Mental Health Services at local, regional and national forums.

Ability and willingness to travel throughout the area of service delivery is essential for this post.
