Twilight/Overnight Nursing Service

Department: Inverclyde HSCP - Community Adult Nursing

Hours:  36 hours per week worked
   16:30pm – 22.30pm or 22.00 – 08.00 hours to     meet service need, 4 hours protected management time weekly.

Grade:          Charge Nurse Band 6

Base:  Greenock Health Centre / Hillend House

Role of the department:
To provide a community nursing service to the housebound population of Inverclyde in conjunction and collaboration with HSCP colleagues from Community Alarms, OOH Care at Home. The Twilight Service is currently based within Greenock Health Centre, overnight service is based at Hillend Centre.
The job the applicant will be doing:
The Band 6 nurse will work collaboratively with all out of hour’s team members to provide effective and holistic nursing care to a designated caseload. You will be the clinical expert who will be accountable for case management and nursing activity within the caseload, and lead, manage and support the out of hour’s integrated team.
Work collaboratively in both a planned and responsive manner to ensure nursing skill and expertise is afforded to residents of Inverclyde HSCP
There will be a requirement to link & liaise effectively with OOH medical colleagues via NHS 24, Scottish Ambulance Service and provide guidance and support to unregistered staff supplying care & support services to HSCP service users.                                                      

Skills / Qualifications:
It is essential that you are currently a Registered Adult Nurse with the NMC and that you have significant post registration experience. Specialist practitioner qualification in district nursing or equivalence required. Community experience is desirable.
An interest in Palliative Care and Management of Long Term Conditions / Anticipatory Care alongside associated technical skill & ability is considered advantageous. E.g. enteral feeding T34 Syringe Pumps
 As part of NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde’s pre-employment checking for all appointed candidates, evidence of current NMC registration will be required prior to start date. You should therefore note that candidates who are unable to provide confirmation of current NMC registration, in line with projected start date for this post, may not be shortlisted for interview.. A current driving licence is desirable.
